YTA’s Team GDP (Growth & Development Process)

The GDP is a structured, six-step programme designed to build a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and personalised development. It energises teams and supports individuals to contribute meaningfully to shared goals.

What’s Included in the GDP Package

Step 1: Initial Consultation with SLT

Goal: Align on strategic vision for team growth.

We explore team dynamics, challenges and aspirations, and conduct a high-level baseline survey covering goal alignment, communication & collaboration, efficiency & workflow, resource usage, service quality & productivity, and growth potential. This informs the initial team & operations audit.

Step 2: Team Introduction & Individual Check-Ins

Goal: Build rapport and understand individual roles.

A 30-minute presentation introduces GDP to the team, followed by 1:1 conversations (≈20 minutes) to understand roles, goals and growth areas. A team survey captures their operational perspective.

Step 3: 1:1 ‘Self-Awareness’ Growth Session

Goal: Deepen understanding and identify development needs.

  • Personal SWOT / GAP analysis.
  • Daily work challenges and CPD opportunities.
  • Preferred learning and growth pathways.

Step 4: BELBIN Psychometric & Behavioural Analysis (optional)

Goal: Understand team roles and natural styles.

  • Natural working styles; strengths and limitations.
  • Role within the team (action-, people- or thought-oriented).

Step 5: Individual GDP Plans & SMART Targets

Goal: Set personalised, measurable growth objectives.

Each team member defines 3–4 SMART objectives across four pillars:

  • Professional Skills & Knowledge
  • Productivity & Performance
  • Communication & Collaboration
  • Personal Well-being & Work-Life Balance

Each goal includes clear success criteria, realistic timelines and measurable outcomes.

Step 6: Monitoring, Mentoring & Ongoing Support

Goal: Track progress and maintain momentum.

Weekly or bi-weekly 1:1 support over 30–90 days via the YTA Growth & Development framework: tracking progress, addressing challenges, and celebrating growth while adapting plans where needed.

How Will Improvement Be Measured?

  • Progress against business KPIs
  • Progress against SMART objectives
  • Improvement in team survey scores (from baseline)
  • Feedback from participants and SLT
